Conditions for Executive Membership
Executive Members must meet the strict criteria set out in the AIHHP Code of Practice, which includes the requirement that the main centre must be a full time permanently staffed practice, to adhere to AIHHP Best Practice, minimum equipment levels and other conditions. CODE OF PRACTICE – For EXECUTIVE MEMBERS
The aim of the Association is to promote and maintain the very highest professional and ethical standards of hearing healthcare within the private sector. Each member of the Association shall place the welfare of the client before all other considerations and shall behave in a proper manner towards professional colleagues, and shall not bring them or the Association into disrepute.
In addition to the code of Trade Practice laid down by the Hearing Aid Council, members will abide by the following conditions:
- The main centre must be a full time permanently staffed practice.
- Where hearing tests are carried out, noise levels must be in accordance with the appropriate BSA recommendations.
- Adoption of BSA recommended cross-infection control procedures.
- Adoption of Outcome Evaluation Procedure – either COSI, APHAB or IOI-HA.
In addition to the minimum equipment specified by the Hearing Aid Council, the following equipment shall be available in the permanent centre of Executive members:
- Electronic hearing aid analyser
- Insertion gain measurement
- Tympanometer
- Speech audiometry facilities
- Sound level meter
- Video-Otoscope
- Broadband Internet Access
- Insert Ear-tones for Audiometry
Also required:
- Computer storage of patient data with required legal data protection registration.
- Facilities for responding to email enquiries, fax and telephone and VoiceMail.
- All Executive Members must agree to remain completely independent.
- Members will abide by the current mandatory educational training programme as laid down by the Association.
- All forms of marketing and promotion must be acceptable to, and in the spirit of, the Association.
- Disputes between members will be resolved by arbitration; the decision of the committee shall be binding.
- Members shall not use the acronym AIHHP to imply a form of qualification.
- Members must hold the appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance.
- Members shall be responsible for the conduct of all their Associates and Employees.
