AIHHP Members Obligations
- AIHHP Members must operate from a full-time permanently staffed centre.
- All AIHHP Centres must be equipped with the latest technology to ensure precision in fittings.
- AIHHP Members must be independent and offer impartial, unbiased advice.
- AIHHP Members must demonstrate the highest ethical standards.
- AIHHP Members must take part in mandatory educational training programmes which are in addition to those required by the statutory bodies to ensure they are up to date with the latest techniques and technology.
- AIHHP Members must ensure their marketing and promotion does not contain any false claims, misleading information or give unrealistic expectations of what hearing aids can achieve.
- AIHHP Members must be registered with the data protection registrar and ensure that clients’ personal information is treated with confidence and not passed on to any outside organisation.
- AIHHP Members must ensure that all hearing aid audiologists working for them or on their behalf meet the same high standards required of AIHHP Members.
In addition to the code of conduct laid down by The Hearing Aid Council, all members of AIHHP:
- Operate from a permanent centre which is guaranteed to be fully staffed.
Equipment in permanent centres includes:
- Electronic hearing aid analyser.
- Insertion gain measurement facilities.
- Tympanometer.
- Speech audiometry facilities.
- Sound level meter.
- Video Otoscope.
- Broadband Internet Access.
- Insert Eartones.
- Cross Infection Control.
Also required:
- Computer storage of patient data with required legal data protection registration.
- Fax and telephone answering facilities.
All members have agreed to:
- Remain totally independent.
- Attend the Association’s mandatory education programmes.
- Ensure that all forms of marketing and promotion is acceptable to, and in the spirit of the Association.
- Not use the acronym AIHHP to imply a form of qualification.
- Hold the appropriate professional Indemnity Insurance.
- Be responsible for the conduct of all their associates and employees.
