Audiology & Otology guidance during Covid-19 – Updated 01 June 2021

June 16, 2021

Audiology & Otology guidance during Covid-19The joint guidance has undergone a significant review following 15 months of learning. We have significantly grown our knowledge base around Covid 19.

When the joint audiology and otology COVID-19 guidance was originally written, we looked to ensure patients and clinicians were safe against a new threat. This illness is something completely unknown so we must be cautious.

The guidance has always been evidence based and, when evidence was limited, erred on the side of caution. As we start to exit the pandemic, the guidance has been updated to ensure it complies with the National Infection Control Policies released in January 2021.

Previous versions of the guidance will be accessible in an archive on the joint bodies individual websites for reference. A revised table to use in local risk assessments is included as an appendix. We urge all clinicians to use this guidance to develop local risk assessments and work within their own employer guidance.
